SUMMARY:INTRODUCTION TO HIGH-POWER SHOOTING CLINIC
DESCRIPTION:GARAND\, SPRINGFIELD & AS ISSUED MILITARY RIFLE QUALIFICATION & INTRODUCTION TO HIGH-POWER SHOOTING CLINIC \nPROGRAM: Offered SATURDAY\, May 24th at Rio Salado Sportsman’s Club in east Mesa\, this one-day class introduces shooters to high power rifle competition and is one of the ways to be eligible to purchase Rifles from the Civilian Marksmanship Program (CMP).\nThe program includes classroom instruction and a 35-shot match consisting of 5 sighting shots\, 10 rounds prone slow-fire; 10 rounds prone rapid-fire; and 10 rounds standing slow-fire. Shooting is at the covered 200-yard line. Live fire will be on electronic targets. No “pit duty”. \nRIFLES\, AMMO & EQUIPMENT: Club M1 Garand & AR-15 loaner rifles are available for students who need them. Ammunition (.30-06 and .223 cal.) may be purchased at a cost of $40 for 35 rounds (no other calibers sold). While Club ammunition is required for Club guns\, students may bring their own rifle and ammunition\, but NO tracer or armor piercing ammunition. Any of the following rifles may be used: M1 Garand\, 1903 Springfield\, M1A\, any as issued Military bolt action or AR15. Rifles may use iron sights\, optics up to 4.5x\, or red dot. Students should plan to bring lunch and water\, binoculars or spotting scopes\, notepaper and pens. Long-sleeved pants and shirts\, a ball-cap\, shooting jacket or sweatshirt\, glove for the non-trigger hand\, and sun-screen are recommended. Safety glasses and ear protection are mandatory. \nSTART TIME: 7:00 A.M. in the Activity Center Building. \nFEE & STUDENT LIMIT: Open to adults\, and juniors 14 years and older. Fee is $40 for adults\, $25 for juniors under 20 ($5 discount for Rio Salado members). Limited to 45 students \nParticipants will be required fill out the CMP affidavit. DESCRIPTION:Junior Smallbore Rifle Program\nProgram Overview\nThe Junior Smallbore Rifle Program held at the Ben Avery Shooting Facility is operated under the\ndirection of the Arizona State Rifle & Pistol association (ASRPA).\nThe program follows the NRA Marksmanship Qualification Program\n• Participants ages 8 – 21 years of age work at their own pace to earn classification levels from Pro-Marksman through Marksman\, Marksman First Class\, Sharpshooter\, 9 Sharpshooter levels and then Expert\n• Participants desiring to continue to advance their rifle-shooting skills may participate in the Distinguishing Expert program.\nThe program offers shooting year-round over 3 sessions/seasons:\n• Fall/Winter\, Spring\, (Off June July and August)\n• Shooting is offered on most Thursdays\n• Range times are 6pm – 8:30pm.\nThe program is run by Rick Harrach (Head Coach) and volunteer NRA-certified Range Safety Officers (RSO) and Instructors.\nParticipation in the program requires completion and submission of registration and waiver forms\, as well as payment for the season\nFor more information contact Rick Harrach at: rcharrach@outlook.com
