INTRODUCTION TO HIGH-POWER SHOOTING CLINIC

GARAND, SPRINGFIELD & AS ISSUED MILITARY RIFLE QUALIFICATION & INTRODUCTION TO HIGH-POWER SHOOTING CLINIC

PROGRAM: Offered SATURDAY, May 24th at Rio Salado Sportsman’s Club in east Mesa, this one-day class introduces shooters to high power rifle competition and is one of the ways to be eligible to purchase Rifles from the Civilian Marksmanship Program (CMP).
The program includes classroom instruction and a 35-shot match consisting of 5 sighting shots, 10 rounds prone slow-fire; 10 rounds prone rapid-fire; and 10 rounds standing slow-fire. Shooting is at the covered 200-yard line. Live fire will be on electronic targets. No “pit duty”.

RIFLES, AMMO & EQUIPMENT: Club M1 Garand & AR-15 loaner rifles are available for students who need them. Ammunition (.30-06 and .223 cal.) may be purchased at a cost of $40 for 35 rounds (no other calibers sold). While Club ammunition is required for Club guns, students may bring their own rifle and ammunition, but NO tracer or armor piercing ammunition. Any of the following rifles may be used: M1 Garand, 1903 Springfield, M1A, any as issued Military bolt action or AR15. Rifles may use iron sights, optics up to 4.5x, or red dot. Students should plan to bring lunch and water, binoculars or spotting scopes, notepaper and pens. Long-sleeved pants and shirts, a ball-cap, shooting jacket or sweatshirt, glove for the non-trigger hand, and sun-screen are recommended. Safety glasses and ear protection are mandatory.

START TIME: 7:00 A.M. in the Activity Center Building.

FEE & STUDENT LIMIT: Open to adults, and juniors 14 years and older. Fee is $40 for adults, $25 for juniors under 20 ($5 discount for Rio Salado members). Limited to 45 students

Participants will be required fill out the CMP affidavit. Parents of juniors will also be required to sign a CMP Junior Release Form. Download the forms at www.riosaladohp.com/clinic.htm

Sign-ups are on a first-come first-serve basis by Registration Form. On line registration is open March 29th thru May 22. Additional applications received during the registration period will go on a waiting list. Applicants may withdraw during the registration period. No walk-ups will be accepted.
